Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot

The latest release of Ubuntu is available for download since last week, the servers were heavily loaded throughout the week-end but are back to normal download speeds now. The biggest change is in the ‘Unity’ desktop, although Gnome is still available. In the spirit of the title of this blog I have spent some time getting used to the new desktop environment and after a week of use my opinion is very positive. It took a little while to get organized the way I wanted but I am now getting familiar with the interface and like the slick visual effects. Give it a try if you haven’t already, easy to install also if you have a MS Windows PC there is a version you can install alongside Windows with a dual boot set-up.
